same as ever.

Nothing has changed. That took work.

About

The name

It is the most ordinary sentence in English.

You say it when someone asks how you are and the honest answer is that not much is going on.

We took it because it is a shrug and a vow in the same four words. Said one way it means nothing has changed. Said another it means I am still here, still doing this, still showing up. Same words. Different weight.

Most of a life is the second kind of day. Not the wedding, the Tuesday. These are clothes for the Tuesday.

How this works

Seasons, not a season.

Collection 001 is called seasons because that is what it is about. The ones you live through, not the ones a calendar sells you. Spring to winter and back round again, and you are still the same person reaching for the same thing.

What it is not is a fashion season. No autumn delivery, no resort, no reason to replace something you already own because a date turned over. A number goes out when there is something worth putting out. If that is twice a year then it is twice a year.

This is 001. We intend to reach 100. That is a plan, not a countdown, and nothing here is about to run out.

Where we are

This is the beginning of it.

We are new. The store opened this year and the collection you are looking at is the first one. There is no heritage to tell you about and we are not going to invent one.

What that actually means for you: you are early, the pieces are made after you order them, and the person who answers your email is the person running this.

Words we use

None of these are invented. They are what the things were already called here, written down so you know them too.

Study
A piece. Not a drop and not a style. Each one began as a line drawing of an ordinary object, and the garment is what the drawing turned into.
Number
A collection. You are on a number, not in a fashion season. This is 001, and it is called seasons.
The mark
The 001 on the chest. Small on purpose. It is there for you to know it, not for a room to read it.
Still here
The list. Named after the thing we keep saying. You get told when the next number lands and nothing else.

The parts you are suspicious about

I have never heard of you. Why would I spend this on a hoodie?

You would not, on our word alone. So here is what you can check instead of taking it on trust. The returns terms are written out in full rather than summarised: thirty days from delivery, unworn with the tags on, refunded to the card you paid with. There are no sales and no codes to hunt for, so the price on the page is the price, and shipping is shown before you pay. And the person who answers your email is the person running this.

If that does not add up for you, do not buy it. We would rather you did not than that you regretted it.

Why are there no sales?

Because the price would have to be wrong first. A code only works if the number beside it was raised to make room for it, and then everyone who paid properly gets punished for being early.

So there is no sale, no seasonal price and nothing to wait out. The one exception is friends and family, which goes to the list and nowhere else, and it is a thank you rather than a lever. What it costs today is what it cost last month.

Will I just look like I am wearing a brand nobody knows?

For now, probably. The 001 on the chest is deliberately small and the drawing on the back does not spell anything out. Nobody is going to stop you and ask what it says.

If a logo people recognise is the point for you, we are the wrong shop and that is fine.

What if it does not fit, or I just do not like it?

Thirty days from the day it arrives, unworn with the tags on, refunded to the card you paid with. You cover the postage back unless it turned up faulty, in which case we cover it both ways.

No restocking fee, and no store credit instead of your money.

We are not going to run a sale. There is no Black Friday price and what it costs today is what it costs. The only discount that exists is friends and family, and that goes to the list rather than to the internet. Shipping is worked out at checkout before you pay, never bolted on at the last screen. What you see there is what leaves your account.

If that is the kind of shop you want to buy from, the rest is downstairs.

Behind the brand

different day. same as ever.

Heavyweight loungewear with the edges cleaned up. The things you already reach for, cut and finished so they still read as something you chose.

Seasons turn. The feed turns. You do not. That is the whole brand, and it is why collection 001 is called seasons.

  1. The name

It is the most ordinary sentence in English, and that is the method as well as the name.

    Read it all

You say it when someone asks how you are and the honest answer is that not much is going on.

We took it because it is a shrug and a vow in the same four words. Said one way it means nothing has changed. Said another it means I am still here, still doing this, still showing up.

It is also how the clothes get made. Take something everybody already knows, a plain chair, a greyhound, a message nobody sent, and draw it down until it is ours. Ordinary things, made same as ever.

Most of a life is the second kind of day. Not the wedding, the Tuesday. These are clothes for the Tuesday.

  2. 001 of 100

Seasons, not a season. Numbered so nothing expires.

    Read it all

001 is called seasons for what it is about, not for when it arrived. A year goes past, the weather turns all the way around, and you are still in the same hoodie. That is the point of it.

So there is no autumn drop, no resort, no reason to replace something you already own because a calendar turned over. A number goes out when there is something worth putting out. The number is a plan, not a countdown. Nothing here is about to sell out to make you hurry.

One down. Ninety nine to go.

  3. Made to order

Nothing sits in a warehouse. Yours gets made because you bought it.

    Read it all

It takes about three to four days to make, then two to five business days to post. So roughly a week to a week and a half, and you get a tracking link the moment it leaves.

The trade is honesty for speed: nothing is overproduced, nothing gets discounted later to clear it, and the price on the page is the price. There is no code and there never will be.

    1. Ordered
    2. Made for you
    3. Posted with tracking
  4. New, and saying so

The store opened this year. Being early is most of what we can give you.

    Read it all

We could invent a founding year and a factory. Plenty do. We would rather say it plainly: this is the beginning of it, and you would be one of the first people wearing it.

The person who answers your email is the person running this. Reply to anything we send and it reaches them, not a ticket queue. Open to ideas and collaborations while it is still small enough to say yes to them.

what you are actually buying

The weight
14.7 oz cotton french terry. Heavy enough to feel like something when you pick it up, soft enough to live in.
The quiet
One small 001 on the chest. Goes with everything you own and shouts at nobody.
The range
Three tops and three hoodies. Six drawings, one each, and nothing made to be replaced next season.
The drawing
Something everybody already knows, drawn once and never reissued. A plain chair. A greyhound. A message nobody sent.
The timing
001 of a hundred, and the first one. Early is the best thing a new brand can offer you.

Still here. Same as ever.

Collection 001 / The studies

Six drawings of ordinary things

Every piece in 001 began the same way. A drawing of something ordinary, made before there was a garment to put it on. The drawing decided what the piece was called and what it was about.

Here they are on their own, away from the clothes.

  1. a curving ribbon of road drawn in fine light line on black, with the words not yet

    01 / Not yet

A ribbon of road, drawn mid-curve

Not yet is not a no. It is the answer you give about the parts of your own life you have not got to, and most honest answers are that shape.

The drawing keeps it open on purpose. The line runs off the edge of the frame instead of stopping, so it is going somewhere without having arrived.

    See the piece
  2. overlapping paper planes under a postmark with cancellation lines, and the word unsent

    02 / Unsent

A postmark over a letter that never went

Everyone has a few. The message typed out and left sitting there. The letter folded, addressed and kept.

What is drawn is the postmark that would have gone on it: the stamp, the cancellation lines, the proof of a journey. All the evidence of sending, and no sending.

    See the piece
  3. a clock face scattering into dots and arcs, with the words i'm late

    03 / Who cares

A clock coming apart, and the words i'm late

The face is breaking up and the numbers have already gone. Underneath it the drawing says i'm late, which is the joke, because by then it is not a clock any more and nobody is being told anything.

Who cares is not apathy. It is the moment you work out what the deadline was actually worth.

    See the piece
  4. a single wooden chair drawn in light line on black under the words same as ever

    04 / Usual company

    One chair, drawn plainly

Not a set, not a table, one chair. The usual company is the people who do not need an occasion, and the proof of them is furniture: the seat somebody always ends up in.

Nothing is being hosted here. Somebody just came round.

    See the piece
  5. a greyhound at full stretch drawn in one continuous line under the words same as ever

    05 / Out for a while

    A greyhound at full stretch

A dog running is the clearest picture of doing something for no reason. There is no destination in the drawing and none is implied.

Out for a while is what you say when you would rather not account for where you are going, which is most of the times it is worth going.

    See the piece
  6. three simple flowers on stems drawn in fine line under the words same as ever

    06 / Nothing planned

Three flowers, drawn from the side

The kind that come up without anybody deciding they should.

Nothing planned is the best thing that can be written in a diary and the hardest thing to arrange. The drawing is what grows when the ground is left alone.

    See the piece

The drawing sits on the back of each piece. The 001 on the chest is the only other mark.

What you are buying

  • 14.7 oz french terry

14.7 oz cotton french terry, about as heavy as a hoodie gets. Garment dyed, so the colour sits in the cloth rather than on top of it.

  • Made after you order

Made one piece at a time, never mass produced. Nothing sits in a warehouse waiting, and nothing sells out of your size and disappears.

  • Made to order, not stocked

High quality DTG, so the graphic goes into the weave rather than sitting on top of it. No plastic feel, nothing to peel at the edge.

  • Thirty days to decide

Unworn with the tags on, refunded to the card you paid with. No restocking fee, and no store credit instead of your money.

Collection 001 is numbered, not a fashion season. The number is a plan, not a countdown.
